Jake Taylor

Jacob (Jake) Taylor has played four years of professional baseball as a starting 3rd and 1st baseman. In 2015 he played for the Las Cruces, NM Vaqueros of the Pecos League of Professional Baseball Clubs batting .425, with 7 doubles, 8 home runs and 19 RBI in 19 games. Jake was traded towards the end of July to the San Rafael Pacifics of the Pacific Association of Professional Baseball Clubs. In 36 games he batted .361, with 10 doubles, 2 triples, 12 home runs and 34 RBI. He was a key part of the team’s second half surge and 2015 league championship. In 2016 Jake played the full season with San Rafael batting .307 (2nd in the league) and leading the league in home runs (16) and RBI (74). He was also runner-up in MVP balloting. In 2017 Jake played his third season for the Pacifics batting .306 (4th in league) and led the league with 20 HRs and tied for league lead with 65 RBI. Jake had OPS of .949, an OBP of .400 and slugging percent of .452. In 2018 he batted .308 (top 10 in league,), had 16 home runs (7th), 3rd in league with 68 RBI, .916 OPS, .401 OBP and a slugging percent of .515. He was again a key part of the team’s 2018 league championship.

Jake attended Radford University starting in 23 games as a freshman and redshirted his sophomore year. He left Radford to attend Montgomery College as their starting 1st baseman and starting pitcher. He was an NCAA Division lll All-American batting .384 with 33 extra base hits (3rd Division lll), and 16 home runs (1st in Division lll). He was also awarded a Golden Glove as a pitcher. Jake finished his collegiate career at Flagler College as their starting 1st baseman batting .318 with 10 home runs and 55 RBI.

Jake played three years for the Takoma Thunderbolts in the Cal Ripken Collegiate Wood Bat Summer League. He holds the team’s all time season record for home runs and RBI, 4th all time in doubles and has the 7th longest all time hitting streak.

Jake is a graduate of Good Counsel High School in Olney, MD. He was a 4 year starter, a 3 year WCAC first team selection and a 4 time first team All Gazette selection. In his senior year he was the Montgomery County Gazette player of the year and the Washington Post All Met first team selection. The Falcons were Champions of the WCAC in Jake’s senior year.

Jake has been the Assistant Coach at Walt Whitman High School in 2019, Head Baseball Coach at Springbrook High School in 2017 and 2018. In 2015 he was the Junior Varsity Assistant Coach at Richard Montgomery High School.
