Derrick finished his career playing professionally with the Frederick Keys. in addition to five years of Division I baseball, competing for both Southern University and the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. His local playing experience includes time with the DC Grays of the Cal Ripken Collegiate League.

In addition to his playing career, He currently coaches the 13u Montgomery County Shockers and has worked numerous high-level camps, including Southern University Camps, UMES Camps, MD&I Baseball Academy Camps, MJBL Camps, St. Joseph Mustangs Camps, Southern Maryland Baseball Camps, and DC Grays/Washington Nationals Camps.

Derrick Mayes II is a dedicated hitting instructor, in addition to defense, speed and agility. Derrick brings a high-level playing background and coaching experience to athletes looking to elevate their game.
